You get management trying to treat content like it's physical inventory and creative staff like they're factory workers - you get deadlines and milestones that make no sense and the notorious mistake often made is spending so long with no real goals that some bigwig decides to start from scratch again.Īn animation studio probably already has their shit together where it counts. Outside of general inexperience from indies, specifically it's usually a) people from commercial project management disciplines trying to run a creative project, and b) people from commercial project management trying to run an IT project.īoth of those cases just do not map the way management types think it does, and combining both is a recipe for disaster. I honestly hope PS Studios sign them up, or I just hope they have the financial means to expand on their future projects. I rather enjoyed the challenge and while some things can be improved, I absolutely adored everything the game had to offer stunning visuals and animation, great scope, some great boss fights (this is down to personal taste, but I enjoyed the challenge). I personally thoroughly enjoyed the game and it was my personal favourite game to play this year despite some of the issues people have with the game. For a studio with no previous games under their belt, they've done exceedingly well. I've seen a lot of people here talk about some of the issues they have with the game (combat, difficulty spikes, parry, bugs, etc), but I'm incredibly impressed with Ember Lab for putting a game of this magnitude out.
